Hail, Keepers of the Flame! I direct my love and my word to the unselfed ones who are keeping the flame of life as faith, as hope, as charity to all. I salute the real Keepers of the Flame who understand the meaning of self-sacrifice, the sacrifices that are necessary if the flame is to be kept. Therefore I speak to the few rather than to the many, although my heart would reach out to the many who call themselves Keepers but know not the meaning of the word.
The keeper of the lighthouse must tend the light, must keep the lamp burning bright, must know that all is well through the night - in storm, in rain, and in fair weather. For if the ships do not see the light, they may be wrecked upon the rocky shore or they may not reach the shore at all. Those who know what it means to see the light in the lighthouse window, to see the first glimpse of shore, of home, of land, will know what it means to the wayfarer and those who are seaworthy to be welcomed by the glow of the fires of the AUM. Whether, then, you keep the light or you are in the ship of life braving the stormy seas of the astral plane, you have an appreciation for the light of God that never fails, because if it would fail, mankind would be lost.
Our God keeps the responsibility of keeping the flame. And mankind have become so dependent upon that flame and that Keeper that they are not burdened with the sense of responsibility, of awe that comes from the fiery core of being, from the very need to be life, to give and to receive that flame.
I am concerned lest America drop the torch of freedom. For while heaven hangs as a bower of loveliness, of fragrant blossoms of the teachings of the Buddha, and the song of the bird is heard in the air and the comfort of heaven is nigh, there is a resistance in the hearts of the people to receive that bower of loveliness. And the great barrier to the bringing-in of the golden age in America and in Terra is human selfishness. And I tell you this day, I send forth the rebuke of the Darjeeling Council to the government of this nation and to the rulers and to the elite who call themselves the elite and yet are not the elect of God!
You must defend freedom! You must be the nation centered in selflessness which gives forth the light, the protection, the perfection of the defense of freedom in every nation upon earth where freedom is threatened by the dragon of World Communism! Who are the fallen ones who have invaded the levels of government where decisions are being made to desert Angola, to desert this and that nation, to walk out and to leave behind the flame of freedom to be tended by those who know not how to tend the flame?
America, do you see what your leaders are doing to you? They are allowing this earth to be eaten up, bite by bite, by the fallen ones and the laggard generation. They are allowing the seed of the Serpent and of the dragon to be spawned; and their plot is to ring in the United States of America until every nation, great and small, is under World Communism and all of the peoples of the world are forced to march in the armies of the dragon.
And then they will march, and then their planes will fly and their bombs will be sent. And where will you be? Will you point the finger and say, "Our leaders have led us to this brink of destruction"? Will you blame your leaders who are the blind, whom you already know are the blind? Heaven will not allow you to blame your leaders, for those who follow the blind leaders are themselves to blame.
I am speaking today with the full-gathered momentum of my love for America and for the children of the light on Terra. The fallen ones are marching, and the Martian evolutions on the astral plane are combining their forces to reinforce the dragon of world take-over so that this earth may become the coordinate of Mars under a one-world darkness of the fallen ones.
Precious hearts, there is no resistance! And then your leaders declare that they will not defend the white minorities in Africa. Let them defend freedom! Let them not defend personalities, but let them defend the right of the individual to expand the threefold flame and to know God consciousness! How can those who have not the threefold flame be concerned with the defense of God-freedom? They are the ploys of the fallen ones. And it will take a radical change! I tell you it will take a revolution in consciousness! And the people of America and of the nations of the free world will have to surrender their selfishness if they are to win in the name of true freedom upon Terra.
If I were to release to you this day the fiery intensity of my being concerning this question, you would be scorched in these very rooms. And therefore I have called upon my legions of violet-flame angels to temper my message and my address that you might not feel the utter desolation that is felt by those of us who see the handwriting upon the wall.
And then we look to the chelas; then we look to the Keepers of the Flame. And where are they? Precious few will give their lives to the uttermost for this calling and for this cause. They choose their separatist ways. They discuss and they discourse on individuality and on freedom and on this and that pursuit of avocation or profession or training. All the while the fires of freedom are not tended on the altars of our retreat.
When there is a battle to be fought, you leave all else to the side. You do not consider fiddling while Rome burns. You have a sense of commeasurement and of the exigencies of the hour! You do what counts for God, for country, and for Christ. You are living on the brink of world destruction. Shall we come each week to reiterate our statement and our cry? Shall we sound like the droning of the drones? Shall we sound like the fallen ones? To those who are the true Keepers of the Flame, the call that is given is once given and it is enough for a century of laboring in the vineyards of the Lord.
What do you think - that suddenly in a year, in two years, in three years since the ascension of your beloved Lanello, crisis is dismissed and the fallen ones have gone home and you can pursue your little projects and your little enterprises as though you were the center of the universe? You who have been given the teachings of the ascended masters, you who fear the loss of selfhood and of identity - cowards I say, who fear to come to give your energies to Saint Germain on Saturday evening, who fear to give a token of three hours and a half to the service of the light!
I speak to all who have passed through the halls of Summit University. I speak to all who have received the Keepers of the Flame Lessons. I speak to those who are reading the Pearls of Wisdom and yet who are so dense that they can scarcely perceive the light of God that sparkles from every page and every word.
If mankind are drenched in selfishness, if the ascended masters must walk the streets of the earth without response, must we hang our heads in shame when we walk into the homes of the chelas on the Path and find that they, too, prefer their self-indulgence to the keeping of the light of freedom? Well, I will tell you this: If there is not greater response from the Keepers of the Flame and those who should do better because they know better, then I will not come to the freedom conference in Washington and I will not speak! For my words will not fall upon idle ears and idle hands! My words will not be given to those who would take the teaching and squander it upon their own selfishness.
Therefore, let it be known that I have spoken to all bearers of light in America! If you cannot give your energy, your life, to this cause, then I, Saint Germain, will withdraw my light from you and I will reserve it for the chelas, the true chelas of light. And we will give our teachings to the true ones and we will take them into the retreats. And when there is danger abroad in the land, we will come with that special music of Venus and we will draw the children of the light into the inner retreats. And those who have squandered the light and the teaching and the efforts of the messengers - they can stay and watch the holocaust and the cataclysm and the desecration of life that will surely come, surely as it came on Mu and Atlantis, surely as it came to the ancient civilizations where I kept the flame, if there is not a greater response forthcoming from the lightbearers.
The handwriting is on the wall. Those who sleep the sleep of death will be rudely awakened when the noises of the uproar will make them come out of their houses into the streets and say, "What is happening?" Well, I say, don't be surprised! What is happening is your own karma and your own failure to keep the flame! [To be concluded in next week's Pearl of Wisdom.]

SAINT GERMAIN. Keepers of the Flame Service. On Saturday evening, Keepers of the Flame come together in their Church Universal and Triumphant community teaching centers and Summit Lighthouse study groups for a three-hour service dedicated to Saint Germain. On this day, the seventh ray is released from the heart of the Great Central Sun and earth is saturated with the violet flame of freedom. During the service, the Sacred Ritual for Keepers of the Flame may precede the dynamic decrees and invocations to Saint Germain, to Archangel Michael, to the All-Seeing Eye of God, and to the Elohim Astrea for the binding of the dragon of World Communism, the exposure of the international capitalist/communist conspiracy, and the protection of the government, the economy, the youth, and the destiny of America. Keepers of the Flame join in joyous songs inspired by the early American patriots and by the melody of the violet singing flame. A world report may be included with slides or films of current events and a concise news summary for the purpose of making specific calls for freedom. Following a taped dictation from the ascended masters, Keepers of the Flame may dance to the rhythm of the waltz - keynote of Saint Germain for the release of the violet-flame action of the sacred fire.
