The One True Purpose of Divine Love

     To All Seekers:

The heart of the world awaits that composite and descendant measure of hope perceived through the Universal Christ, the Servant of the meek and the lowly, the Servant of all men.

The fiery radiance of hope opens the door to new areas of mental chastity. But beyond standards and mores, beyond the law is the perfection of inner spheres, the realm to which the mind quite naturally rises when free from the encumbrances of mortal thought and feeling. Alas, these are too frequently involved with aspects of the anatomy of the physical world in which mankind do not see the true purposes of Life made physically manifest because of the tinted lens of the carnal mind; thus they retain a warped view of the purpose of the physical plane.

The time has come when men must seek for purity as one of the greatest aspects of Divine Love. The mortal conception of those loves which are called many splendored things belies the one true purpose of Divine Love - that interpenetrating radiance which shines forth and show forth the very Soul of God Himself as not only inherent within His creation but also victorious in the fulfilling of His purposes among men who seek Him.

Stability is needed, but it ought to be sought in those elements of divinity which stress the full potential of the individual. How few truly perceive the meaning of the Christos, of the Universal Mediator. How many dogmatize the person of Jesus without understanding that this too was surrendered in Him as it must be in all men in order that a greater measure of universal glory man shine forth.

John the Baptist declared, "He must increase, but I must decrease."1 And so with the steadiness of divine seeking, as the search advances into those throbbing, exciting manifestations of divinity within the domain of self, men will find that they will attach less and less importance to historical events connected with their lives and more and more to their friendship with the Divine. This always entails a surrender of the lesser unto the Greater, an exposé of vain desires and attachments, the vanities of Ecclesiastes2 - all of them surrendered unto the Universal.

Thinking now of the evolution of standards that takes place in the life of the individual as his search progresses, and knowing that as the search culminates in greater measures of fulfillment there is a greater degree of surrender to the divine will, I must remind the aspirant upon the Path, here near the portal of the year, of his wondrous opportunities to embrace the virtue and Truth that are to be found in the spiritual domain. These opportunities are not only soul-satisfying, but they are also typical of the progress of the neophyte toward the streaming glories of perfection that are ever shining from far-off worlds.

The regrettable incidence of inharmonies, crimes, punishments, and the flagellations of embodied mankind by their own gross violations of cosmic law speaks explicitly of the need for individuals to focus their attention upon divine perfection. Don't you realize, seekers after god, that events are arranged not just by circumstance but by law - the law that man himself sets up in his world - so as to take the attention of mankind from those magnificent standards of divinity which are always the arbiters of your perfection and place it upon those grossly repetitive thoughts and feelings which add to the weight, already too heavy, of mankind's unfortunate experience?

We call upon the Supreme Power of the Universe inherent within each of you to release you as speedily as possible from the dark domain of carnal thoughts that leech your energies; and we call upon you to turn the reins of your heart and mind over to your holy Christ Self and your beloved god Presence so that the purity you project into the future by deeds well done in the now may offer you a tomorrow far superior to your today.

The harnessing of the individual to his native Deity is at first a startling manifestation of a new and grand hope. But as the shadows recede and the sun illuminations of cosmic fires release their wondrous techniques for unfolding deification upon mankind, he will find at last the inner splendor that has always guided his being.

I doubt that many will lament the consumption of old records of sin, sickness, and death, of tragedies and hopelessness. I feel certain that as the lines of divine character descend into the disciple's hand, mine, and identity, the spheres of heavenly action will manifest anew upon earth unto the most marvelous gathering-together of the sons of men who shall become the sons of God. And the benediction "Thou art My son, this day have I begotten thee"3 will be more and more the result of your universal search for loveliness, peace, and victory over all outer conditions.

The previews I have given to you of the spiritual techniques and blessings to be offered this year are token manifestations of the cornucopia of divine purpose held in the wings of the stage of Life soon to be released to those seekers whose minds and hearts are open to the love of God.

The Brotherhood marches on; and purity of thought is our banner, purity of being our goal, and purity of action the manifestation of the divine hand through the veil of flesh.

     I remain diligently

Part II

O mankind, so beautiful are the thoughts of wholeness - freedom from distress! So beautiful are the thoughts of love to the family of nations! From your part of the nation, where the great negative focuses of San Francisco blend across the nation with the darkness of other large cities, where there is a merge throughout the world of pain and anguish, karmic situations becoming emboldened to new destructivity, to the grass shacks in New Zealand and parts of South America, where the poverty and the groping of hands hungered even for earthly bread creates a cry of pain that comes often to the Karmic Lords; when darkness in Bombay and in the streets of Peking also is a gross darkness, when the world is in pain and struggle, bondage and blindness - mankind's hearts, as they perceive these pictures, are troubled, and they cry out, "O God, how long and why?"

O mankind, the how long is so much up to you and the why is also. When you understand that the relief of every human bondage, of all binding of mankind is imminent in the Christ Consciousness, then the darkness of the world is no longer so terrible, because it is relievable. We can lift the pall and burden of the world. We can ease the bite and struggle of life. We can stop and detoxify tooth and claw and convey to mankind the gift that is above the law of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.4

O beloved children of the world, you hold a very real part of all of this when you begin to understand simply that God wills to deliver, that in your hands lies a gift most precious and priceless but one you must first give to yourself ere you can convey it to another. Do you understand then the gift of faith - the faith to realize that your own blessed life is a purpose that extends like lightening from the East unto the West, that bringeth Christ Consciousness and awareness into the funnel of mankind's perceptivity until at last their blessed selves may smile the smile of hope? And hope may penetrate until at last their society - not just the outer exterior guardianship of man's individual personality or family or fortune, but instead all that he holds near and dear within the deepest recesses of his heart.

How infinite is love! How beautiful is each one's portion - the opportunity of the prodigal! O beloved mankind, there is so much now depending upon your response, so much depending upon the summoning. And so we summon. We ask and we receive.

We ask tonight, then, that you recognize the thought form in the hands of the Great One descending now through the glowing cloud. For what is the thought form? The thought form is the hand of God holding a torch of hope, of faith, and of charity to the world, to all the hands of God. The hand of God, the left hand of God, is hidden from view, but the right hand of God penetrates the cloud. And man beholds in the hand of God a blazing torch which must be passed unto another.

And so each of you must understand that in the forthcoming year it is a solemn responsibility for you, if you would do the will of Heaven, to pass the torch to another while still fulfilling its destiny for yourself. Do you understand that you cannot pass it until you have fulfilled some grand and glorious act of service unto the Brotherhood, the bringing of some soul a ray of Light or of hope? This is not contrary to man's will; it is a part of God's will within man.

As I stand here addressing you then this evening, it is my desire to acquaint you with a circumstance concerning your own activity here in Santa Barbara, in Colorado Springs, and in many parts of the world. some of you may recall one who passed from you some time ago, the first Mother of the Flame who later became the Regent Mother. Well, I want you to know that tonight at inner levels she is with you. Her name upon earth, Louise Kieninger,5 will kindle in many of you a response of her great love.

I want you to understand that her body is no longer gray or crooked in any way; her form no longer reflects age, but only the beauty of her earliest youth and maturity. Upon her face there is a glow of hope and sweetness and love. Her keynote is indeed that which was played to you upon the violin this very evening, "Calm As the Night."
