The Dangers of Astral Allurement

To Those Who Would Be Pure in Heart:

A sense of beauty assists the soul in relating to the Divinity that originally created all substance and form. Man must learn to separate the darkness from the Light and to eliminate the abortions in nature that occur because of mankind's dual consciousness and their failure to maintain contact with the Divine Presence.

Pain in the world order is unnatural. It is a manifestation of inharmony within mankind's four-dimensional consciousness. When the error is corrected - the error of an ugly arrangement of the thought and feeling patterns of the race - the beauty and perfection of the Presence begin to shine forth in nature as well as in man.

O yes, we realize full well the difficulty men experience in holding fast to patterns of perfection in the midst of a synthetic environment where images of imperfection are constantly being projected upon the screen of the mind. Remember, hearts of Light, it is the darkness that is without that so many gaze upon - the darkness of imperfection which the multitudes do not distinguish from the deep and beautiful Light of the abiding Presence of Perfection within the being of man. This is the Light of the eternal Christos to which all must hold - if they value their liberty - regardless of appearances that would defile and dethrone the Perfect Image. As the rearrangement of concepts and precepts occurs within the mind and heart according to the laws of perfection, men are able to eliminate much pain and anguish, both mental and physical, from their lives.

Men and women should understand how to cope with the energies of the electronic belt, the individual as well as the collective subconscious. They should realize that not only their own thoughts and feelings but also the sum total of the thoughts and feelings of the world body, which may be termed the weltschmerz, have a direct bearing upon their actions and attitudes. The key to that order and beauty which are not universally enshrined in the world, then, is to be found in the perpetual joy of returning to the miracle of the Divine Image that God holds for every manifestation of Himself. For if it is the sense of struggle that makes the struggle, as Saint Germain so often says, then it is the casting-aside of undesirable thoughts and feelings and the cleaving to beautiful images and ideas that effects the magnificent transformation which all mankind require.

It is necessary in this connection that I give a solemn warning to the students concerning the dangers of astral allurement. I refer to the magnetism of those states of consciousness which are below the level of the Christ Mind and which therefore engage the energies below the heart and involve man's perceptions in psychic distortions. Many spiritual seekers are detoured from the Path by the glamor of strange phenomena and the probing of that plane of consciousness just beyond the physical, known as the astral realm.

One of the great attractions in the use of hallucinogenic drugs is that they facilitate contact with the astral and induce those abnormal experiences in the world of sense thralldom which enamor the mind. Such diversions into euphoria which are simulated through drugs, although endless in variation, are not necessarily divine simply because they originate beyond the realm of physical manifestation. Usually they are psychic in nature, that is, they come from the level of the emotions and their mass misqualification by mankind. Thus these turbulent energies, with their moving kaleidoscope of aberrations, key a frequency response that is closer to the vibration of demons than it is to that of angels.

It would be well for the aspiring student to realize the great value of keeping watch upon his thoughts and feelings. For thereby he learns the requirements of self-mastery and how to prevent much that is unwholesome and troublesome from later springing up in his world. By guarding the quality of his consciousness and becoming the master of his household, the individual has no need for drugs to elevate the mind and feelings; instead, he learns to contact the Christ directly on all planes, hence to develop a standard whereby he is able to anticipate in an a priori manner those cultural trends which are foreign to the divine ideal. He also learns to employ the preventative cure of entertaining beneficent concepts and at the same time to avoid psychological pitfalls that might one day prevent the fulfillment of his highest aspirations.

When the student leaves behind the baubles and trinkets of the astral, he soon discovers the beautiful miracle of lovely, godlike thought forms waiting to be lowered from the highest planes into the world of form. Although there are times when man's concepts of God fall far short of the mark, manifesting as they do in the realm of time and space and in the unperfected consciousness, they can and frequently do become the magnet that guides man up the stairway of attainment into the perception and precipitation of genuine beauty.

Life as it is currently being lived upon earth is full of masks and deceits, but this need not continue. After all, beloved ones, what you really are is what endures. If you make yourself into a receiving station for the beauty God is sending forth every day into the world, you become spiritually coordinated with Hierarchy, with the angelic hosts, and with the Brotherhood of Light. If you do not avail yourselves of the opportunity to become outposts for the beauty of the Divine Image, well, then, O hearts of Light, you have no one to blame but yourself for your failure to be the beautiful god of your own universe that the living God wants you to be!1

You see, it was God's intent, when He created man in His own image and likeness,2 that this image and likeness of Himself should manifest everywhere upon the planetary body. Without a doubt the average person, who has not the understanding of Truth, blinded to his spiritual opportunity by self-concerns, may find even his worldly aspirations swallowed up by his environment; and we have seen cases where ten thousand years of progress have been buried beneath a lump of clay, simply because the individual could not surmount a host of environmental problems that stifled both his talent and his initiative. Nevertheless, the Lord's intent remains as the goal of Life for every man.

Let us clear the way, then, for all who would run with the Lord! Let us clear the way for an expansion of individual identity within the Godhead!

Blessed ones, the concentric rings of the Causal Body are a marvel to behold. The soft shadings of pastel hue delicately outlining the rainbow rays of God are charged with the allure and vibrancy of genuine living. Truly, the Light of the Christ is a fountain of electronic energy, cascading with expansion and the fire of movement. And this, in all of its wonder and opportunity, God showers upon man as the prize for his victorious overcoming in the world of form and his abandonment of astral decoys bobbing upon the murky waters of the psychic underworld.

The need for the reeducation of man's vision that he might perceive beauty, and then honor and adore it for its affinitizing power, is very great in an age when all that is sacred is being torn down by the forces of antichrist. The examinations by the Lords of Karma and the Hierarchy which men frequently undergo, although they know it not, are but an attempt by the spiritual preceptors of the planet to raise the spiritual standard of the race. They would kindle in all people that newness of Life and appreciation of beauty and Truth which will lead them from darkness unto Light, from shadow and shame to order and perfection; for they know that once mankind see the Light, their souls will no longer be satisfied3 with any lesser manifestation.

The comedies and tragedies of the past, with their residue of opaquing substance, the maya of maudlin memories, will continue to oppress the seeker on the Path; but once the man of God realizes within himself that he can be free because he is freeborn, he need no longer be bound - he is no longer bound.

O beloved chelas, disciples of the living God, followers of the Christ, whatever your status - whether advanced disciple or beginner - remember the vast potential of Cosmos as it pertains to the marvelous unfoldment of the Divine Self within you! Remember the all-power of Divinity to expand within your consciousness and to increase, heartbeat by heartbeat, the realization of your Christ-potential through the sense of beauty.

     May God provide a vision,
an all-seeing eye,
That like a globe of fire
elevates and ennobles the soul
Until at last each one's
own passion for freedom
Reaches out to convey to others
the strength of Beauty's shining.

Devotedly, I AM
Paul the Venetian
