"Before They Call, I Will Answer"

To Those Attending the Rebirth of the Christ in Human Hearts:

How true it is that if men had the correct understanding of universal purpose, they could never commit those acts or align themselves with those activities which slaughter righteousness and the unfoldment of universal love. The bane of ignorance cloaks their hearts' rays, and in consort with the carnal mind they have again and again opaqued the Light of divine wisdom and love.

The little gems I bring are for those whose every thought reaches out to the implementation of an improved world situation, to an evolvement of self, and to cooperation with the hand of God moving even midst ordinary human affairs.

It has been rightly said that nothing happens by chance, and so the word "chance," in its current usage, has become another name for the outworking of karma and the fulfillment of the law of universal desire. That individuals can and do influence the manifestation of cosmic law in human affairs is a foregone conclusion - Justice is nowhere more blind than in the courts of men. If the free will of man were not the key factor in the bringing-in of the kingdom, the triumph of universal love would have been accomplished in ages long past. But who can deny that Virtue has done her perfect work in all ages, most especially in the lives of those who have held to the faith in the goodness of God and in their own ability to serve Him in the humblest task allotted to them?

Certain features of cosmic law go unrecognized by humanity. One that is often overlooked is the divine answer to humanity's calls that is always forthcoming from God. Yet He has said, "Before they call, I will answer."1 Because his ignorance or his ignoring of the Law is no excuse, the man of faith cannot rightly persist in allowing elements of doubt in the Creator's word to color his mind and emotions without paying the penalty of being cut off from the answers to his calls. For doubt is the wall that man erects between himself and his God; and it is a self-imposed penalty that only he can remove through corrective measures. It is never the desire of the personal God to place the weight of responsibility for wrong action upon a recalcitrant generation; rather it is the inexorable law of Cosmos, which governs the return of energy misqualified by erroneous thought and feeling to those who send it forth, that determines the burden man shall bear for past mistakes.

I wish to convey the immense yet simple knowledge that every gift of God given to man in answer to prayer must either be kept, used, or dissipated. It is always hoped by those among the heavenly host through whose hands the gift is bestowed that if it is kept and then used, it will be for the constructive good of the individual or of another part of Life.

Unfortunately, those who dissipate the divine gifts of mercy and grace, either through misqualification of the God-ordained intent or by spending the Light upon paltry human desires, will one day find that they are without the answers to their prayers. For one day the karmic hammer will surely fall, and they will have dissipated God's energies for the last time. And that which has been faithfully given them from on high - in recognition of the divine spark within and as opportunity to renew their vows through the many avenues of service to Life - will be withheld. As James said, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."2

What a pity it is that individuals regard us as dead! Because we live and move and have our being in God,3 we are cognizant each moment of every human thought and feeling; therefore, we are vitally aware of the universal need of humanity to hold fast to the Life triumphant and immortal, the Life that pulsates as the Threefold Flame within and holds the solution to every problem. Those who believe that "God is dead," simply because their own concepts of Him are lifeless, find no difficulty in applying the same concepts to the Ascended Hosts of Light, thereby relegating us to the realm of the dead. Those who deny our existence would do well to reexamine their concepts of God, whose Life necessarily includes our own.

Conversely, those who understand and recognize the immortality of the cosmic gifts God gives from His Heart to those whose every thought is directed toward Him have no difficulty in accepting either His Reality or the living Presence of His servant sons and daughters both in heaven and on earth. Their blessed faith starts a circuit of Light that moves from hearts kindled with gratitude to the Heart of God, carrying more of His energy on the return current. These are full of joy as they see cosmic mutations taking place within themselves - a metamorphosis of the soul brought about through the ritual of divine love.

Those who seek us will realize almost from the beginning of their search, and then again when the moment of truly knowing us comes, that our hearts are full of love for embodied humanity and that our only desire is to create through proper education a spiritual uplift in the human consciousness that will enable mankind to avoid both the shedding of tears for human failures and their remorse for divine ones. The fact that individuals have turned the pathway of selflessness into the pathway of selfishness is due not alone to their lack of knowledge but to their great lack of conclusive faith in the ultimate goodness of God.

Born out of His Heart's desire for the salvation of the current age, the continual motions of divine love move throughout the universe, engendering new hope for the ages. Thus the wonder of His love is measured out of the very heart-steps of God Himself. And there is a focus, a place prepared within each one's heart, where He shall abide forever if man wills it so. All that man is and does is by the grace of God; therefore, in the outworkings of divine grace in man, those spiritual works of which his faith is but a symbol do appear. This substance of things hoped for, this evidence of things not seen,4 can also be kept by man as a divine gift. Those who desire to increase their faith may call for an intensification of the measure of grace given unto them and see the miracle of immortal Life as it unfolds before them the magnificent faith of Cosmos in its own fiery destiny.

Expectancy is a much needed virtue, blessed hearts of love; and this cannot be the expectancy of personal fulfillment through another, but the expectant hope that waiteth on the Lord day and night.5 And when the triumph of an individual's faith brings him at last out of the smoke of doubt and self-delusion into the fire of cosmic purpose, how very wonderful is the counsel of God to each one concerning his life that is so precious.

Each life, like a locket around the neck of the living God, is the fulfillment of a wish He made as He fashioned the soul, a wish for its creative expression and for the best gifts to adorn the Christ aborning in each one of His children. Won't you, then, O humanity, for all time let go of the awful struggle in which you have engaged your energies? For in your present state of limited Self-awareness, instead of fulfilling the divine plan, you fulfill only the karmic recompense of the law of return; and by reason of your own evil thoughts about one another - often based on mere surmise - you remain bound to the karmic wheel that keeps turning, ultimately bringing to your doorstep the malice which, if unchecked today, can destroy the very fabric of your souls tomorrow.

Will you, then, out of a heart akin to God's own Heart, learn to be patient with individuals at various levels of development? Do not expect too much of those who, far down the ladder of life, leap, childlike, toward what may seem to you only a bauble or a trinket. One day they will come to understand infinite values as you do, and then the joy bells will ring out as the angels of heaven rejoice in the overcoming of undesirable conditions by an individual or a segment of humanity.

Oh, what a pity it is that men do not understand the need to express patience toward other parts of Life! When they are on the receiving end of this and other gifts of God, they hold out expectant hands. How necessary it is that men learn not only to receive the mercy of God but also to extend it graciously to others.

Let us, then, build a tower of Light and hope in the world that shall shift man's interests and intents from the mundane to the heavenly and, drawing him from the murky darkness of failures and follies, polarize his consciousness to the goal of rebirth in Christ. Thus he moves toward the gentle Christ-attainment that thunders forth the peal of universal purpose made available to all because it has been realized by one.

With these thoughts from my heart, I remain devotedly

Your Spiritual Mother,
Mary
