The Inflexibility of the Mercy of the Law

To Those Who Cherish Mercy's Flame as the Beacon of Hope to Civilization:

When the wick is placed in the oil, the fuel for the flame rises by capillary attraction. Just as natural law governs physical nature, so spiritual law governs spiritual nature.

Through the mists of time the advent of glorious things appears. Thus the beautiful soul Robert Louis Stevenson long ago declared, "The world is so full of a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings."1 One of the great factors which makes a study of the past attractive is the lure of discovering a period and a culture more exciting than one's own. Yet civilizations have come and gone and the affairs of men have fallen from time to time into a cyclic round of regrets; for the pages of history are replete not only with high adventure and interesting stories about people, but also with infamous acts in almost numberless array.

Wise is the historian who learns the art of sorting out the wanted from the unwanted as he peruses the archives of the race memory. If permitted to invade the bastions of heaven's peace, man's delvings into the macabre, which he allows to parade upon the screen of his mind, would cause the very ethers to tremble; and the web of contact, if allowed to exist at all, would pollute the pristine purity of higher spheres with the mire of humanity's fascination for the unreal. Therefore, man's containment within the confines of his own musings and mediocrity is clearly a part of the divine plan for which all should be grateful. If the halter pinches, blessed ones, if the corral seems to curb your freedom, remember that the pursuit of the perfection of God, the highest adventure possible to anyone, must be guarded for the few in every age - yourselves included - who come apart from the world because nothing else will satisfy their souls.

Men expend their energies in far-off adventure, climbing the Kunlun Mountains or the Himalayas in their desire to conquer their physical environment; but the time will come in the life of every man, if he permits the flow of gentle cosmic evolution to guide his soul unerringly to its goal, when he will respond to the great inner need to master his affairs rather than be mastered by them. And when the gentle dropping of the oil of mercy saturates his consciousness, he will also understand the role that others play in the drama of life.

How often even the average individual suffers the criticisms of those he does not know. The anger that flows in a torrent from the lifestreams of the masses can be disturbing even to those of ordinary sensitivity. Directed in a tirade by those who would accomplish the control of others, this energy spreads into the world at large like the black ink of a cephalopod, producing the very havoc that the dark spirits intend. Therefore, let wise men and women in every walk of life shun anger and the rising pillar of wrath that shatters the crystal glowing drops of mercy we would dispense to the world.

From the Temple of Heaven in Peking,2 we perceive that there burns in the hearts of mankind the nostalgia of earlier years, the memory of family and home environment. As an act of mercy, we would caution individuals against such indulgences of the memory, however pleasant; for only in reaching beyond the relative good and evil of all human experience - one's own history or that of the planet - into the realm of Pure Cause that lies just beyond the cosmic veil, can man accurately trace the history of the soul and the real meaning of life.

Man came forth from God; he need only dip the wick of his consciousness into the oil of spiritual illumination and mercy to realize, by a spiritual capillary attraction, his own fiery destiny. Then will the flame of his life burn brightly without sputtering. Probing the ancient history, not of astral delusion but of spiritual evolution, individuals will see clearly through and beyond the mists of time 'neath the clamor and adventure of past lives a golden thread of brilliant hope penetrating and transcending all.

Man need not lose himself in the densities of time and space or in the labyrinthian caves of his mind and emotions; for by God's intent he can sharpen his soul faculties and cut through the mortal dilemma. Even those who consider themselves spiritually undeveloped or unendowed can acquire a greater penetration of higher octaves; for the precious gifts of perception are already a part of the abundant Life that God has given to man in the superb manifestation of the flame within the heart.

     Flame of soul brightly appearing
As hope and fragrance to the mind,
Sweet incense rising in the air,
Contacts each heart bowed in prayer
And kindles memory's shining hope
That though appearances belie,
God will strengthen and make whole.

May I ask of the devotees of the Light, wherever they are, that they remember the power of mercy not as a bending branch of willow or a hollow bamboo stalk, but as a shaft of courage and integrity that no man can sway. The inflexibility of the mercy of the Law is the ultimate source of man's freedom. As a lotus rises from the swamps of life casting fragrance everywhere, so let men whose lives are permeated by Christ Truth release the fragrant love of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Whether men living in other climes say, "We believe in Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva," or, "We believe in the gentleness of the Buddha, unfolding his consciousness into the Image Divine," or, "We believe in the Nazarene Master who appeared two thousand years ago in Bethlehem," let them discover in the dignity of the Holy Spirit and the reign of the eternal Christ that the ageless nature of the only begotten Son is truly one in all humanity. God's mercy is extended to all through the great cosmic bank of abundance; but it is made tangible only to those who pursue relentlessly until the mists of past and future hopes are parted by the sun shining upon the crystal sea of Reality unbounded. God is one, Christ is one, humanity is one!

There may exist current dangers to mankind's attempts to unite nations and peoples without conformity to the Spirit or the law of living Truth; but one day the principle of divine union will become the foundation of true brotherhood and God-government over all. When men open the windows of the soul as we open the Temple of Heaven, the floral winds of mercy will penetrate their consciousness and make them one as never before. The premature integration of those whom Nature has divided geographically and ethnically before the Spirit has produced the miracle of cosmic love in their hearts, could well bring about the slaughter of the innocents3 (the destruction of the manchild of the heart who focuses the inner sense of God's love). But when the day of God's appearing in the heart is welcomed by all, men will stand upon the platform of mercy as a dais of their united accomplishment.

These are the ideals we have espoused. Let us, then, who understand the need for mercy in healing, in ministration, and in serving together create in Spirit an ageless temple of mercy as a monument to a world alive and waiting for the sunrise of God's merciful hope.

     Devotedly, I remain

THE RADIANT WORD
Excerpt from a Dictation by Beloved Kuan Yin
The Sword of Mercy given at the Pyramid Conference, October 1969

Beloved ones who worship at the Temple of Mercy, gather close now round about the flame. Dip into the flame with your heart and with your love and partake of the essence of the Sacred Fire. Recharge your form with its regenerative momentums and let the living Light of the mercy of God be known around the world.

Let the cry of hope go forth! Let faith answer, let charity point the way; for this day we have declared it: Mercy shall triumph in the world and mankind shall come to know the fullness of the Law of God, the fullness of the manifestation of His Truth! To this end we serve. Will you serve with us, beloved ones?

Won't you stand now and draw the sword of mercy from your own hearts? Did you know that you can do that, beloved ones? You may place your right hand upon your heart and draw forth the flame of mercy therefrom, which you then qualify as the sword of mercy. Do you know that at any hour of the night or day you may draw forth this sword from your heart? And what is this sword? It is the living Word; it is the power of the Flame of the Holy Spirit.

With this sword in hand you may then go forth acknowledging the power of the Christ; and you may give the following call unto me and I will answer, for I am bidden by the Lord of Hosts to answer the call of each and every devotee of mercy:

"O Beloved Kuan Yin, charge now this sword with thy flame of forgiveness, of healing and truth, of mercy and freedom. Make my right arm the scepter of thy power in the world of form where I desire to extend thy grace - into this situation, into this problem. Let the full expansion of the fire of mercy from the altar at Peking be charged now through my right arm and through my heart by this sword of living flame, that the children of God upon earth may come to know that the fire of mercy will allay all fear, will quench the blaze of men's emotions, will stop the rioting of the masses, will quiet the concerns of the youth - their worries and their rebellious energies."

Beloved ones, whenever a problem is called to your attention in the world of form, whether it involves hundreds or millions, your own family or your country, draw the sword of mercy, point it directly into the core of the problem, and feel the action of mercy's power rushing in to balance minds and feelings - to transmute and make whole. Meditate upon the sword; visualize its penetrating, all-consuming action; and let the flame do its perfect work. All you have to do is call to me and then know that the fullness of the Law will act if you will hold your attention upon the desired perfection and meditate upon the Light of the Christ for several moments or minutes as the need requires.

Now, beloved ones, take the sword - the precipitated power of the Sacred Word - and return it to your heart, and think upon this thought this day: If you can draw forth the sword of mercy from the flame focus within your heart, can you not also draw forth the sword of blue flame, the sword of truth, the crystal sword, the sword of divine love, the sword of healing, and the sword - the pillar of fire - of your own ascension?

Sharper than a two-edged sword is the living Word of God; and whenever and wherever it is called forth, His fire will go out into the world to manifest His perfection. If you will but keep the Flame of Life blazing within your heart and make the call for it to come into manifestation, you will have at your disposal a most powerful instrument of God for the healing of the nations and the victory of the Light in all mankind. Therefore, accept this opportunity and humbly and joyously acknowledge that through you God will certainly do all that is required to bring humanity into the knowledge and understanding of His will and into the triumph of the Golden Age.

Whenever you are confronted with a situation wherein you would be tempted to say to yourself, "I just don't know what to do; I don't know how to handle this problem," stop for a moment. Become calm and centered in the Presence of God within; call to me in the name of your God Presence and your Christ Self; and then draw forth the sword of mercy and behold the action of the Christ.

This is my gift to you this day - the understanding that as sons and daughters of the Flame you have the power and the authority, if you will but claim it in His name, to invoke the power of the Flaming Sword and to see what wonders God will perform through your hands, through your hearts, and through your heads. ...
