The far-flung cosmic empire would stagger the imagination of the greatest scientist upon the planet, yet, there is not the slightest difficulty in keeping track of every iota of substance by the Great Master of Life.
To survey the wondrous Holy Christ Self of mankind is to exalt the soul. Those who must keep watch over the natural aspects of man - that which God hath placed in man's keeping - are often valiant, indeed, even when unascended; for it must be understood that the "rock 'n' roll" concept of mankind, which is the prevalent craze of the youth of the world by nefarious design, is only a reflection of the careless attitudes of past decades and centuries.
As the Goddess of Liberty spoke recently in her mighty fiat of hope to the earth, which will be released one day soon in printed form to the student body, "They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind!" We, however, are not so much concerned with alarming mankind as we are in securing from the faithful those energetic currents of hope that call forth from the heart of God for recalcitrant mankind the assistance which they do not even know they require.
As we peer behind the scenes and examine the factors which attempt to govern mankind and seem to be presently in control of political and social standards, we find that the forces which marshal opposite sides of the same issue can often be traced to the same elements of psychic control. Again and again we perceive how the invisible and subtle manipulations and machinations of consciousness go undetected by those upon whom they are practiced; and yet, there is grave danger in permitting the mind to become a funnel for every negative concept attributed to mankind and a channel for those few who, by a relative sense, do hold in one hand the strings which control both the right and the left extremes of human behavior.
It is good, precious ones, to be delivered from concern about that which you cannot change through human means. It is good to be free to imbibe the pure air of cosmos and to hold as relevant those sacred standards of life which involve Christ consciousness and God-awareness. Those who are polarized by the vibrations of fear of that which is coming upon the earth are often caught unawares when it comes to those standards of life which by cosmic law require enforcement by the individual himself.
It is so easy to divert the attention from the walk with God to overconcern for mankind. Now let it be clear that I do not plead for a head-in-the-sand attitude, whereby all human measures and responsibility to society and world politics are ignored. But there must be balance, blessed ones, in the lifestream so that a radical departure from the ordinary holy feelings of mind, such as the ascended masters hold, does not occur within the individual unascended who already has, in most cases, more to handle than that which he is capable of handling.
It is ever so wise, then, to be practical and to understand the great power of spiritual influences to reach up into the highest circles and - through karmic circumstances discharged by the Karmic Board and those qualified to make a correct assessment - to invoke from the hand of God the divine justice which will restore to the earth and the environs thereof the rightful God-dominion which will make every man a king and every woman a queen of virtue and service, so that happiness can rule in the hearts of man.
I may be called a frightful idealist by those who have lost faith in the dignity of present-day man and who seem to feel, because of the world trends downward, that there is no virtue left alive on earth. Just as some of the theologians have stooped to such a low state of consciousness as to declare that God is dead, so men must understand that others will assume that virtue is dead, and this is tantamount to declaring the death of Almighty God. Let it be clear, then, that there live upon the planet to the present hour any number of blessed chelas and disciples of the Lord Christ and of others of the ascended masters, and many who know not even an allegiance of consciousness, yet who still maintain a code of honor and service which is worthy of note.
From time to time individuals will get "off base" in their assessment of life; they seem to feel that the most important thing in the world is the discovery of curious and strange objects or the current state of world affairs. We can understand the meaning of this to hearts who love God and to those of scientific inclination who rejoice in the wonder of newness. Yet, we must caution mankind again and again not to forget the role of the Self which is the doorway to the heart of reality. It is good to observe the accomplishments of others and to assist in a joint venture of cooperative love and service, but you can never afford to do aught else than to give yourself completely away to God who, in most cases, will return some element of control to you that your responsibilities may be increased and your intelligence wax stronger in cosmic achievement. The very gift of life, precious ones, was intended to make mankind masters of their world.
Concerning the war situation in Vietnam, which now occupies the center of attention among many of mankind, and the terrific turmoil in the world as the battle communism, while embroiled internally within its own orbit, also seeks to attack the so-called capitalistic world: Fear has mounted concerning that which could well come upon the earth, and many have felt that the fulfillment of prophecies were nigh at hand. Let me remind you that the Master's statement also included these choice words, "All these things shall be, but the end is not yet."
In the eschatological sense, a great oppression has come into the religious world which seeks to extinguish the power of mankind's hope for tomorrow by amplifying fear. Again and again, we have assured you from our level that, regardless of mankind's destructive intent, the great spiritual overseers would indeed act as shepherds of the souls of mankind if they should, through accident or destructive intent which was not stayed, succeed in wreaking havoc upon the world as you know it. It is our hope that mankind will secure enough common sense and spiritual understanding whereby it will not be necessary for the Masters of Wisdom to so act, but we give you the blessed assurance that you ought not to fear those who have the power to kill but the body. Recognize the need to exalt the soul and see that your real strength is indeed in the bolstering up of spiritual power!
We have recently detected a number of new threats, but I see no advantage in pinpointing these at this time so that some among mankind, as frightened hares, might seek to rush into some place of security. The Karmic Board has so often stressed to the Darjeeling Council the importance that mankind, above all their getting, receive the understanding that will enable them to balance the life processes in the consciousness of the disciple. All must one day come to understand that the world has no power to permanently thwart the plan of God, but can exert only temporal pressure upon various facets of the world order so as to disturb and affright mankind and take away their sense of balance which they need and require in order to deploy all of their energies in the right direction.
Avant-garde! Hear our call! Be neither affrighted nor moved by the perils of the world, but be alert to make your calls and know that we are on the job twenty-four hours a day protecting America and the free world and reaching behind all curtains of darkness to protect all mankind even against themselves. This we will continue to do, but we cannot stay the karmic hammer that mankind have themselves released. We can mitigate; we can hope; we can assist; we can pray with you; we can stand by you. ...
